Basma is a postdoctoral researcher enthusiastic to tackle rare respiratory diseases through development of genome editing approaches, as part of theLifeArc Centre for Rare Respiratory Diseasesfocusing initially on primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). During her PhD in Molecular Medicine at the Cyprus Institute for Neurology and Genetics, she cultivated a passion for gene therapy working on optimising base editors for the treatment of beta-thalassaemia. After a post-doc in Synthetic Biology in the Rosser group at the University of Edinburgh, she is eager to continue to build on these expertise with the ultimate aim of improving the lives of patients living with lung disease.
