Dr Gaofeng Zhu
Reasercher
With a BSc from Wuhan University and an MSc from University of Zurich, Gaoefeng has received research training in antiviral innate immunity, autophagy, and molecular virology. Moving to Edinburgh in December 2021 with a Marie Curie Fellowship, he started his PhD journey with Prof. Yanick Crow at the MRC Human Genetics Unit. During his PhD, he identified rare causal genetic variants in type I interferonopathies.
He is now working as a postdoc working with Dr. Karen Mackenzie on COPA syndrome manifesting as severe interstitial lung disease, with frequent involvement of kidney and joint.
Outside of the lab, he enjoys nature, museums, and travelling.
