Jagtar Nijjar
Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Jagtar Singh Nijjar is a physician-scientist and drug‐development clinician with a board certifcation in rheumatology.

  • He has held roles in translational medicine at GSK, where he led a team focusing on bridging discovery science and clinical development and thereafter spent time in consulting with various biotech and small pharma as part of Weatherden.  He now holds two chief medical officer positions with two stealth mode biotechs: one in therapeutics for autoimmune diseases and the other in precision immunology diagnostics.
  • Understanding the key value drivers for new medicines is important to him as well as working with patients as partners to co-develop research programmes.  In his most recent roles, he focuses on clearly understanding the translational thread from how a drug works to improving disease signs and symptoms so that we can design and run more effective clinical trials.
  • His academic research contributions as a lecturer at the University of Glasgow and Cambridge include work in inflammatory arthritis, immunology, and rare inflammatory bone diseases such as SAPHO syndrome.
