Dr Jenny Dickens
Researcher

Dr. Jennifer Dickens is a clinician scientist based at the University of Cambridge and Royal Papworth hospital. She undertook a PhD as an MRC clinical research training fellow studying disease mechanisms in alpha-1-antitrypsin deficiency, gaining expertise in studying protein misfolding and mistrafficking. As an MRC clinician scientist and now as an Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis Mike Bray research fellow, she is interested in understanding the mechanisms by which pathogenic proteins trigger familial forms of interstitial lung disease (ILD) using lung organoid models. She also runs the Royal Papwoth familial ILD clinic and has a large cohort of well-phenotyped patients.

Jenny will be working with Sara Cuevas Ocana to generate models of familial ILD caused by expression of pathogenic variants of surfactant proteins.

Jenny is a mum of 2, and when not at work is most likely to be found out running or walking (ideally by the sea), playing the cello or in the kitchen baking cakes.
