Amelia Shoemark
Researcher, Centre Leadership team
Professor Amelia Shoemark is the Asthma + Lung UK Chair of Respiratory Research at the University of Dundee and an NHS Clinical Scientist at the Royal Brompton Hospital. She is also Chair of the BEAT-PCD Clinical Research Collaboration.
Her translational research programme focuses on chronic respiratory disease, including bronchiectasis and primary ciliary dyskinesia (PCD). She leads EMBARC BRIDGE at the University of Dundee, an international bronchiectasis biobanking study which has described several aspects of the pathophysiology of the disease. This has led to identification of targets for new therapies which have translated into successful clinical trials.
In our Centre, Amelia leads the biobanking project for PCD. This project aims to phenotype, genotype and endotype PCD patients to develop molecular therapies for rare respiratory diseases.
